Foxfire Wilderness LLC is a Licensed Training Company of Wilderness Medical Associates, the industry-leading provider of wilderness and remote medical training. Foxfire Wilderness offers Wilderness First Responder, Wilderness Advanced First Aid, and Wilderness First Aid courses throughout the USA and internationally.

Our Mission:

Foxfire Wilderness shares lifesaving wilderness medicine skills. We are committed to providing positive educational experiences to ALL who seek them. We work to increase access and create a learning experience that fits your needs.

We all bleed red.

We welcome people of all races, nationalities, gender identities, sexual orientations, cultures, religions, and socioeconomic statuses. For us, this statement isn't political. This is just good educational practice. Our instructors are selected for their ability to support all of their students with humility and professionalism.

As part of this mission we offer affinity programing to groups that often feel marginalized by the outdoor industry or greater medical culture. Check out our course page for trainings designed specifically for women and LGBTQ+ folks.

Community is essential.

Foxfire Wilderness is currently designing courses that create opportunities for the hundreds of volunteer search and rescue members across the state of Colorado to gain more medical training. Our goal is to make it possible for as many of these unpaid volunteers as possible to access training for minimal cost.

Owens Strawinski

Owner & Lead Instructor

My goal is to teach high quality courses that prioritize my students' needs above all else. I work to create welcoming spaces in which students can feel safely challenged, find confidence in their skills, develop accurate self-assessment, and realize how they can help others.
