Is this class appropriate for me?

Please review our functional position description to ensure you can fully participate in this course.

What do I need to bring?

Classroom essentials: Please bring pen and paper for note taking, snacks, and water for the day.

Appropriate clothing: Bring clothing that will keep you comfortable outside all day, rain or shine. Avoid bringing your favorite clothing items. We will be using fake blood and make-up in class and we don't want to stain your favorite clothing. Additionally, we will be rolling around on the ground and lying in odd positions as patients - ensure your clothing will keep you covered during this process.

Personal Gear: You are invited to bring any essential personal kit you may have that you'd like to try out in class. We can have a lot of fun fashioning splints out of paddling gear or trying out the latest fancy rescue item you found at REI.

What's the deal with the Online Learning?

The online learning segment takes place via the Wilderness Medical Associates Moodle platform. It is detailed and requires active participation.

Once you enroll and pay you will be sent an enrollment link to sign up for the online course. You will then have up to 10 hours of online work to complete prior to our first day in class. People move through this at different speeds, but the norm is 8-12 hours of time on the platform. It is VERY important not to leave this work until the last minute as it often takes longer than students expect. I will send you some reminders, but completion of this work is your responsibility. If you have not completed the entire online course before day 1 of our in-person segment you will not be allowed to participate and you will not be offered a refund.

What's your Refund Policy?

We will offer a full refund (minus the 3.4% credit card fees) up to 20 days prior to the course start date. This gives enough time for another student to enroll and complete the online learning portion of the course. If it it less than 20 days prior to course start no refunds will be offered. We may be able to transfer your enrollment to a future course if one is available under special circumstances. Exceptions to this policy will be considered under very special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
